Bernd Leno is reportedly set to snub interest from Newcastle United in favour of returning to Germany this summer.
The Arsenal star is supposedly one of few names on the Magpies’ goalkeeper shortlist ahead of the next transfer window.

That shortlist is also thought to include Kepa Arrizabalaga and Dean Henderson.
But it seems Leno could be a non-starter for Newcastle officials.
According to the Daily Star, Leno is keen to get back to the Bundesliga, with his old club Bayer Leverkusen sniffing around.
Mikel Arteta is said to be willing to let Matt Turner challenge to become Aaron Ramsdale’s understudy. It seems there will be a willingness to let Leno leave. Especially since he’ll only have a year left on his contract in the summer.

It has been a frustrating season for the 30-year-old, who is now firmly behind Ramsdale in the pecking order.
He’s only been able to make eight appearances. That’s compared to 49 in total last season.
Supposedly, the Gunners could cash in for as a little as £10 million.
Newcastle ought to focus on Henderson pursuit, as report claims Leno wants Germany return
Leno wanting to go back to Germany isn’t too big of a blow for Newcastle.
He’s a good goalkeeper, but there are other options out there that are probably better options for the Magpies.
Dean Henderson is probably the man they should be going after.

He’s considerably younger than Leno and current Newcastle number one Martin Dubravka and could be a great addition for the long-term.
He’s likely to depart in the summer, and Newcastle should be front and centre for the one-time England international.
