Newcastle to fly scouts out to watch 22-year-old midfielder this weekend, he has £12m release clause

Newcastle United’s summer preparations are well underway now with scouts travelling the word to seek out some very talented players they could look to sign.

After a pretty barren January window, there is hope that this summer Newcastle could make a big push for the Champions League with some very key signings.

Journalist Martin Costa is claiming that the Magpies are planning to send scouts to watch Boca Juniors midfielder Kevin Zenon ahead of a possible move in the very near future.

Newcastle hoping to steal talented midfielder

Zenon is still a relatively new face at Boca Juniors who only signed him for £2.7m in January before the beginning of their season, but there are already rumours that he could be looking to make his next move with a release clause of around £12m.

The midfielder has made just six appearances since signing from Club Atletico Union and has recorded two goal contributions in that time, and Newcastle will be hoping he can add to that tally this weekend.

Typically playing on the left side of the midfield, it could be an option for Newcastle to look to use him further forwards as a more attacking player or on the left side of their midfield three.

The issue would be that Newcastle already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes on the wing while they are expecting Joe Willock, Joelinton, Sandro Tonali and Elliot Anderson back in midfield.

Newcastle continue to add youngsters for long-term project

Despite the imminent departure of Dan Ashworth, Newcastle are continuing to look for talented youngsters as they hope to develop them into start players either for the first team or to sell on.

It is a model that almost every top club will try to emulate if they want to be successful and something Man City has been very good at in recent years which is exactly why Newcastle are looking to do the same.

Zenon could follow the likes of Yankbua Minteh and Garang Kuol who have joined in the last couple of years and been sent out on loan to develop their talents, but at 22 Zenon may be thought of as more of a first team player.
