Newcastle target won’t push for move despite multiple bids

Newcastle United have been used to playing the waiting game when it comes to making signings.

Indeed, both Sven Botman and Anthony Gordon were initially linked with a move to Newcastle the window before they eventually signed for the club.

Patience has often been a virtue for the club in the PIF era.

Still, even that may not be enough to get one deal in particular over the line.

Newcastle are believed to have made a number of bids to bring Tino Livramento to the club from Southampton but have so far been rebuffed.

Now, some fresh insight has emerged.

Ben Jacobs says Tino Livramento won’t push for Newcastle move

Despite the interest from a Champions League club after being relegated on the south coast, the 20-year-old is seemingly unlikely to push for a move this summer.

Having only just returned from a long-term injury, the former Chelsea youngster is believed to want to guarantee game time as he bids to get back up to full speed.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Ben Jacobs said: “He hasn’t really been a part of the Southampton team that went down and, prior to the injury, was really breaking through and showing his potential.

“Because of that, game-time and stability are going to be really important to Livramento.

“I don’t think that he’ll be pushing or forcing a move in the same way that [Romeo] Lavia might if a big Premier League club comes in.

“Newcastle are still there, but there was just a gulf in valuation from the talks that have taken place so far.”

Livramento’s position is understandable

A £4m signing for the Saints in 2021, it is understandable that Livramento wants to focus on getting back on track.

With Kieran Trippier so important to the cause at Newcastle, there is little guarantee the youngster would start.

Having spent so much time out of action, game time would only naturally be of the utmost importance.

This, after all, is a player Gareth Southgate name-checked as “excellent” during his initial breakthrough.

For Livramento to focus on his recovery makes total sense.
