Newcastle United star’s agent confirms major interest in player before January transfer window

It’s going to be interesting to see what happens at Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

Indeed, there have been suggestions Newcastle may not actually sign anyone during next month’s trading period, albeit player sales may potentially help boost their funds.

At some point, players will need to leave St James’ Park – regardless if anyone comes in next month.

Newcastle haven’t been the best sellers in the PIF era, meaning they eventually had to let both Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh go back in June. Eddie Howe would later admit he didn’t want either to go but the club were forced into action amid potential points deductions for any PSR breaches.

While January clearly isn’t the ideal month in which to do business, it does at least offer the club the chance to raise more in the way of more funds.

One of the players tipped to leave is Miguel Almiron and his agent has again been speaking.

Daniel Campos has revealed Newcastle are only willing to entertain a permanent sale of the player, who does not want to return to South America at this stage amid links with a move to River Plate – the club he supported as a boy.

He told Deporte Total (via X): “He is very loved and respected. There are many interests, the club only wants to sell him. He does not want to return to Sudamericana yet.”

How much could Newcastle sell Miguel Almiron for in January?

It seems Newcastle are willing to accept a reasonably low offer for Almiron, should teams formalise their interest to that point.

GIVEMESPORT have previously suggested a fee of around £8million could be enough to get him in January.

That is a relatively low amount given there were claims in January of this year that the club were looking for around £30million.

Still, that didn’t work out and it seems Newcastle have changed their stance, which is perhaps understandable given the fact they have struggled to sell.
