Newcastle United have had a very uneventful January window so far but they are showing interest in one exciting youngster.

It doesn’t look like there are going to be any major incomings or outgoings at Newcastle in the finals hours of deadline day but there may be room to add one exciting young talent.

A new report from the Daily Mail suggests that Newcastle are one of a handful of Premier League teams who are showing an interest in Sheffield United’s Ollie Arblaster who has just returned from a loan at Port Vale.

Newcastle want to add another young talent to their ranks

It’s been a busy last 12 months for Newcastle who have been very keen to bring in some talented young players into their academy sides with the likes of Travis Hernes, Trevan Sanusi and Cathal Heffernan all joining in the summer.

The arrival of Dan Ashworth over a year ago helped the club massively when it came to realising what their long-term goal was and how to go about developing the club behind the scenes.

Newcastle are now looking to make Arblaster their latest young addition after the ‘exciting‘ 19-year-old put in some pretty impressive performances with Port Vale in League One.

The midfielder made 20 appearances in the division chipping in with two goals and assists and Sheffield United are now taking a look at him after recalling him from his loan spell away, but other clubs are also keeping a close eye on the young man.

Arblaster has been tipped to have a bright future

Arblaster has actually already made his Sheffield United debut last season when they team won promotion from the Championship. He made five appearances in total before securing a loan deal to Port Vale in the summer.

The youngster has also feature regularly for England’s youth sides and played alongside Newcastle’s Lewis Hall in an Under-20s game against Portugal back in October that ended in a 2-1 defeat.

It’s not quite clear yet whether Arblaster is keen on moving away from his boyhood club at what is still a young age, but there is definitely a lot of interest from some top teams in the league with Brighton and Brentford watching alongside Newcastle.
