Newcastle United’s Sporting Director Dan Ashworth could go up against his former club Brighton in a battle for one of the country’s best young prospects this summer.
Brighton and Hove Albion are looking at making their move for 16-year-old forward Igor Tyjion from National League side Rochdale AFC who finished bottom of League Two last season.
Tyjion’s goalscoring exploits for Rochdale Under 16s has caught the eye of Brighton and Hove Albion’s scouting team.

However, TEAMtalk have also said that Newcastle are also interested in the youngster and could be looking to add him to their roster of future prospects alongside Garang Kuol and new signing, Yankuba Minteh.
The report suggests that Brighton have already made their move in order to head Newcastle off by opening talks with Rochdale over the move.
Brighton’s recruitment, thanks to the hard work of Dan Ashworth, rivals that of Newcastle’s so it’s no surprise to see both clubs interested in the same player. Now it seems to be a case of whether Ashworth’s successor can get one over on his predecessor.

Being a youngster playing in the Under 16’s of a League Two club, not a lot can be found online about Igor Tyjion, but if Brighton and Newcastle’s scouting networks have spotted him, he must be doing something right.
