Newcastle United will need fresh investment this summer.
Though FFP limitations may again restrict quite what Newcastle are able to do in the transfer market at the end of the season, it would be foolish not to suggest Eddie Howe needs more options in his squad.
While the hope will be that not so many players miss so much action due to this season’s unrelenting injury crisis next time out, surely few would doubt the argument that things have looked a little stale at times.
Indeed, the forward line may need some work.
Yankuba Minteh will reportedly be judged as to whether or not he is ready for Premier League football after a stunning season with Feyenoord but he may not be the only new face needed in attack next season.
Miguel Almiron, after all, has been linked with a summer move away. The same can be said of Callum Wilson.
Now, a new name has emerged as a potential target.

Newcastle now tracking move for Crysencio Summerville
According to Football Transfers, Newcastle are one of the clubs tracking a move for Leeds forward Crysencio Summerville.
There remains a chance the Yorkshire giants could offer the 22-year-old a new contract should they win promotion from the Championship this season but that hasn’t stopped the interest.
Newcastle, Liverpool and AC Milan are all said to be interested in the Dutch winger, who has scored 17 goals while registering eight assists in 36 Championship starts this season.
While Leeds will understandably want to keep him, the report claims that his continued presence at Elland Road is far from a guarantee.
They also claim that Newcastle are tracking a player who can operate across the frontline, which Summerville can do.
Crysencio Summerville did not cover himself in glory amid Newcastle transfer links
Clearly, it has been a good season for the winger and could yet end with a quick-fire return to the Premier League.
However, that’s not to say he’s been perfect.
On Saturday, Coventry inflicted Leeds with their first defeat in 2024 and Summerville was criticised for his body language by pundit Jon Newsome.
He told BBC Radio Leeds: “I think Crysencio Summerville had one of the poorest games I have ever seen him play.
“His body language for 60/70 minutes was really poor.”
