Newcastle United undoubtedly need to bring in some extra firepower this summer.
The scoring of goals has again been an issue this season, amongst many others, with Callum Wilson shouldering a heavy burden following his transfer from Bournemouth.
The English striker has scored 10 goals and made five assists in 24 appearances in total so far.
That’s a decent return in a struggling side, but goals elsewhere in the team have been scarce.
An interesting report from The Telegraph has been published today about a player Newcastle supposedly had interest in last year (Daily Star, March 2020).
Apparently, a fee somewhere between £15 million and £20 million could be enough for Celtic to sell Odsonne Edouard.
That’s because the player will only have a year remaining on his contract this summer.
Should Newcastle retain their Premier League status, a beeline should be made for the French sharpshooter.
Edouard would be fine addition for Newcastle
Edouard could either be brilliant competition for Wilson, or a brilliant partner.
Either way, if a deal is possible for £20 million or less, the Magpies should not think twice.
Edouard has a great record in Scotland having bagged 81 goals in 163 games for Celtic. And he has 20 in all competitions this season despite the Scottish giants’ struggles.
There are definitely worse options out there, and Edouard should be pursued if Newcastle stay up.
