Newcastle United are keeping an eye on the situation at Arsenal with their young talent Emile Smith Rowe who is unhappy with the lack of game time he’s getting under Mikel Arteta.

A report on Emile Smith Rowe by 90mins has suggested that the 23-year-old is far from happy with the lack of gametime he’s currently getting at Arsenal.

It has now got to the point where the England international is considering a move in January so that he can play his way back into Gareth Southgate‘s thoughts ahead of Euro 2024.

Smith Rowe has played only nine minutes of PL football this season

There are said to be several clubs monitoring his situation along with Newcastle. Aston Villa‘s name appears to be top of the pile having already made attempts to sign the ‘special‘ winger in the past.

Smith Rowe started Arsenal’s Carabao Cup game midweek, but as played just nine minutes of Premier League football this season.

The midfielder ticks a lot of boxes for Eddie Howe, he’s young, English, already at Premier League and international standard but also with plenty left to improve.

Newcastle’s midfield is fairly stacked, but that may not put Howe off making a move in January as Smith-Rowe is a more attacking option than most of those who currently occupy the midfield for Newcastle.

Newcastle should definitely look for a loan deal for Smith Rowe

If there’s a good deal to be done I think bringing Smith-Rowe to Newcastle would be a brilliant move. Another young, rapid, attacking midfielder to challenge Joe Willock is ideal.

However, the price has to be right. Being English and an Arsenal player, the price could end up being astronomical, but there’s a chance that Arsenal may see the benefit in letting Smith Rowe leave on loan for the second half of the season.

A loan move would actually be ideal for Newcastle, especially if they can insert an option to buy into the deal giving us the first crack in the summer if he proves to be successful.
