Newcastle looking at signing rapid striker with more goals than Callum Wilson this season

Newcastle United could be looking to introduce a new striker to their squad this summer as they look to overhaul the squad.

The Magpies had been keen on bolstering their attack in January but lack of funds made it difficult for them to bring anyone in whatsoever, even on loan.

Now, with the summer window in mind, a new report from Bild suggests that Newcastle are one of the clubs who are monitoring Eintracht Frankfurt striker Omar Marmoush.

Newcastle have two unreliable strikers

Newcastle have two of the most prolific strikers in the Premier League if not in Europe with Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, the problem is that neither of them can seem to stay fit for a full season.

Wilson enjoyed a great year last season in which he netted his highest ever tally in the top flight with 18 and it was largely because he was able to rotate with Isak to limit his playing time and the exertion on his body.

This season, however, has been a bit of a calamity with Newcastle struggling to keep more than one of their strikers fit at any given time, and at points they’ve even had to play without one with Anthony Gordon filling in down the middle.

So, it will come as no surprise to any Newcastle fan that they are now looking to add to their attack in the summer, and Marmoush has emerged as a potential candidate after his impressive form.

The attacker, whose biggest strengths are his pace and versatility, has netted 10 times this season, three more than Wilson, in just 18 Bundesliga games with a further five assists to go with his tally.

Newcastle need a big summer transition

After what has been a very draining season, Newcastle need to get to the summer window to reset and prepare how exactly they are going to attack the new campaign.

A striker is one of the first positions they’ll look to sign, but Howe also wants improvements in other positions like right-wing, left-back and centre-back as well as looking to bring in a defensive midfielder.

The Geordies will also be hoping to get rid of some of those fringe players or loanees who still have contracts at the club and are swallowing up wages which would be best used elsewhere.

That’s not forgetting the fact that a new sporting director is needed following the news that Dan Ashworth would be leaving for Man United, so some really big changes are needed at the club as they hurtle towards the next window.
