Newcastle United have added their name to the list of admirers of Enzo Le Fee who told French media on Monday that he plans to leave Lorient at the end of the season.
A report in 90mins has named Newcastle as one of several clubs keeping tabs on the 23-year-old since he announced his intention to move on from Lorient this summer.
It comes off the back of some impressive displays for the Ligue 1 team as he’s showcased his defensive and attacking capabilities starting all 28 league games this season. He’s scored four goals and laid up five assists this term, helping Lorient into eighth in the table.
Le Fee has plenty of admirers in the Premier League
It’s believed that Leicester have been keeping tabs on Le Fee for a while but have now been joined by Fulham, Wolves, Liverpool, Tottenham and of course, Newcastle.
With Le Fee telling Le Telegramme on Monday: “It’s time for me to leave.

“I have a special bond with the club and that’s why I wanted to extend my contract at the start of the season. I waited for a contract offer from Lorient until December. It never came. Now, I don’t expect anything from the club and I won’t extend my contract.
“I hope to leave this summer so that my transfer will bring money to Lorient.”
Newcastle are looking for a defensive midfielder to support Bruno
Le Fee’s current deal runs until the summer of 2024 so there will be a *ahem* fee involved if he is to move this summer but as yet there’s no indication of what that could be.
Newcastle are looking for a defensive minded midfielder to support Bruno Guimaraes and could see the France U21 international as someone who fits that bill, especially given his young age and what is likely to be a relatively low fee.
It does seem that there will be plenty of competition for his signature from Premier League rivals so it’s going to be an interesting one to watch when the transfer window opens this summer.
