Marcus Thuram is set to leave Borussia Moenchengladbach on a free in the summer with a host of clubs lining up for his signature. Newcastle United are said to be at the front of the pack in England.
Reports from Italy in Gazzetta Dello Sport suggest that Marcus Thuram has admirers in Germany, Italy and England as the forward has made up his mind that he will leave Gladbach when his contract expires in the summer.
Newcastle have been linked with Thuram since he made that decision which has only been fueled by his ‘close friendship’ with Allan Saint-Maximin.
Newcastle are leading the way in England for Thuram
While Gazzetta reports that the Magpies are in ‘pole position’ in England, they still have a way to go with Inter having made the first move during the World Cup. They sent their representatives over to Qatar to meet with Thuram and have offered him a ‘multi-year contract worth £4.4m + bonuses per season’.
Bayern Munich are the German frontrunners and they may feel they have the advantage of being on his doorstep as things stand.

It’s understood that Thuram will make a decision on his next move as early as April, so if Newcastle are seriously interested in signing the World Cup star hailed as ‘phenomenal‘ by Denis Zakaria, they need to get in quickly with an offer.
Allan Saint-Maximin could be useful in negotiations
They have ASM as their ace in the hole should they wish to make their move. Saint-Maximin has spoken before of his desire to link up with his fellow countryman at club level.
Thuram doesn’t seem to have been distracted by the decision he faces as he’s still having a fantastic season for Gladbach, scoring 15 goals and providing four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions. Those are definitely the kind of numbers we could do with at Newcastle next season.
Of course, the big question is, will Allan Saint-Maximin still be here next season to link up with Thuram if we signed him?
