Newcastle United have got big plans for Elliot Anderson, and they do not include him leaving the club this summer.

The 20-year-old was on the fringes last season, but had some high moments during a remarkable campaign for Newcastle. He produced some wonderful cameos, and certainly earned the trust of Eddie Howe.

Now that trust is even stronger, as Anderson has been one of the Magpies’ stars during pre-season.

The 20-year-old has been outstanding, and was particularly impressive during the Premier League Summer Series out in America.

He looks fitter than ever, and ready to have a huge impact during what is going to be another very exciting season for Newcastle.

While there is more competition in midfield following the arrival of Sandro Tonali, there is hope that Anderson can play even more than he did last season. And that is why the club have told interested parties that he is not for sale.

Newcastle are keeping Elliot Anderson at St James’ Park

Journalist Ben Jacobs has told Give Me Sport that Newcastle have told multiple Championship clubs that Anderson is not available on loan for the 2023/24 season.

Jacobs adds that Premier League sides Everton and Luton Town have also shown an interest, but Newcastle are adamant that he is not for sale.

That is the correct decision, because why on earth would Newcastle let Anderson leave?! The club are eager for local lads to come through the academy and shine in the first-team, and that is exactly what Anderson is doing.

A loan move to the Championship would give him regular minutes, but he might actually be able to get that in the Premier League with Newcastle.

For all the big money signings, it is just as exciting to see players come through the academy. And it is even more exciting when they are as talented as Anderson and do not look out of place alongside superstars like Bruno Guimaraes and Kieran Trippier.

Keeping Anderson at St James’ Park is the right thing to do, and he will be eager to get off to a good start against Aston Villa on Saturday. He might not start, but he will certainly have a role to play.
