Newcastle have just inquired about the availability of one brilliant player who has already won almost everything in football.

Newcastle are known to be very keen to bring in a defensive midfielder to sure up their defence which is why Kalvin Phillips looked to be a top target in January.

However, according to Christian Falk from BILD, Newcastle have now identified eight times Bundesliga winner and Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich as another option.

Newcastle tracking ‘world class’ midfielder

So far in the two years or so since the takeover was completed, Newcastle have typically gone after experienced players like Kieran Trippier or talented players with something to prove like Alexander Isak.

What they have not yet brought into the squad is an experienced winner, a ‘world class‘ footballer who will be guaranteed to give you top class performances each and every week.

That’s exactly what Kimmich would be, an exceptional talent who’s already won several titles and a Champions League capable of taking this exciting Newcastle team to the next level.

Whether or not the 28-year-old would be interested in making the leap to the Premier League is unclear, but Newcastle’s interest in the midfielder is real and it would be a huge coup for the club.

Kimmich’s future ‘is open’ in the summer

From the report, it looks like a winter move is unlikely given that Bayern Munich still have a lot to play for and probably won’t want to sell one of their key men in the middle of a season.

However, with his contract set to expire in the summer of 2025, it’s understood that his future is still undecided and that Bayern would be ready to negotiate a sale in the next window.

How much the German international would cost hasn’t been suggested, but with only 12 months on his deal you can expect it to be at least slightly less than what he is truly valued at.

If they can pull this off, signing Kimmich would be a big sign of intent from Newcastle’s owners who are intent on making the club the next footballing powerhouse.
