Newcastle United have apparently ditched their conservative approach to the summer transfer window and now plan to go all out and could bring in four ‘elite’ signings.

According to an exclusive in The Telegraph, Newcastle will now abandon their safe approach to this summer’s transfer window which would have seen Eddie Howe given a very modest budget of £20million to be topped up by player sales. Instead, they will now look to recruit four top signings.

The report even claims that this spending spree will be authorised regardless of whether Newcastle secure Champions League football which would be a huge statement from the owners.

Newcastle are looking at West Ham’s Jarrod Bowen this summer

There were a whole list of names mentioned as potential transfer targets, most of whom have been linked to Newcastle for a while now such as James Maddison.

However, there were a couple of names in the article that caught the eye. One of which is Jarrod Bowen who has been outstanding for West Ham over the last couple of years. The England winger was once described as ‘unbelievable‘ by Jurgen Klopp and would definitely fit the bill at Newcastle.

It would seem like Bowen would be a back-up if the long-protracted move for James Maddison doesn’t work out, but let’s be honest, that’s not a bad back-up to have at all. Bowen bagged his fifth goal of the season at the weekend, which may not seem that impressive, but West Ham have scored the third fewest goals in the Premier League this season.

Newcastle are also interested in Kaoru Mitoma

Another exciting name on The Telegraph’s list was Kaoru Mitoma from Brighton. The Japanese winger has seven goals and four assists in 24 outings for Brighton in his first Premier League season. His efforts have seen him become the highest scoring Japanese player in a single season in England surpassing Shinji Kagawa and Shinji Okazaki.

Newcastle are no strangers to Japanese forwards having once had Yoshinori Muto on the books, although their Premier League fortunes already differ wildly.

The Telegraph mentions that Eddie Howe is very aware that he will have to move players on this summer but there’s little to no chance of any of the big guns being moved on, so Sven Botman, Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak should still be around next season.

If Newcastle are genuinely looking to bring in four elite signings this summer it’s going to be a very exciting transfer window.
