Newcastle United have a new striker on their transfer radar, and he is represented by the same agency as Nick Pope.

The Newcastle United goalkeeper’s agency is CAA Stellar, and now another one of their clients could be on the way to St James’ Park if Toon officials get their wish.

The Magpies have got their eye on signing a new striker, with Callum Wilson‘s Newcastle future very much up in the air.

Eddie Howe would like to keep Wilson, but other people at the club feel differently. And the injury data suggests that Newcastle should sell Wilson, who is out of action once again – this time with a back issue.

As was the case so often last season, Alexander Isak is Newcastle’s only fit striker right now. That is why the club are looking at possible signings, and it could lead them to the Championship.

According to the Sheffield Star, Newcastle are interested in signing Will Osula from Sheffield United.

They add that the Magpies’ interest is ‘real and genuine’, with Toon officials made aware that it will cost at least £10million to take him from Bramall Lane to St James’ Park.

The Sheffield Star state that while Sheffield United have no plans to sell Osula on the cheap, they do need to raise funds through player sales to conduct other transfer business amid their ongoing takeover situation.

Who is Newcastle target Will Osula

Will Osula is a 20-year-old who joined Sheffield United in 2018 from Copenhagen. He is a forward, and made his professional debut for the Blades in March 2022.

The Denmark Under-21 international, who is represented by CAA Stellar like Pope, has had one loan spell away from Sheffield United, representing Derby County in League One during the 2022/23 season. He made 21 appearances in total for the Rams, scoring five goals.

Osula featured fairly regularly for Sheffield United in the Premier League last season. He made 21 appearances in total, nine of which were starts. In fact, his last competitive appearance for the Blades came in the 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United at St James’ Park in April.

His only senior goals for Sheffield United have come in the FA Cup, with Osula finding the net three times in the competition last season.

But he is yet to score a Premier League goal, which is worrying for Toon fans. While he is a player with a lot of potential, it would be a risk to bring him in to replace Callum Wilson. He is nowhere near the number nine’s level, and a deal for the Danish youngster would suggest that Wilson is staying put. In that instance, Osula would act as one for the future whilst providing additional cover.
