Newcastle United could make a late move for PSV Eindhoven right-winger Johan Bakayoko before the window shuts next week.

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has now suggested that Newcastle and Tottenham could make a late swoop for PSV Eindhoven winger Johan Bakayoko.

While Newcastle have an embarrassment of riches down the left wing, the right side of the attack could still be strengthened and Johan Bakayoko could be the answer.

Newcastle will have scouts watching Bakayoko next week

The 20-year-old Belgian is being tracked by several Premier League clubs including Newcastle and Spurs, and Alan Nixon believes the interest is ‘genuine’ and that scouts will be in attendance for PSV’s second leg European clash with Rangers to cast their eye on Bakayoko.

It’s thought that it would take £30million to take Bakayoko away from PSV which could still be doable for Newcastle despite the FFP constraints. We have just unloaded a chunk of wages with Ryan Fraser heading to Southampton on loan and it seems Isaac Hayden is a target for Premier League Luton and could soon make a move.

If that happens then Newcastle could be tempted to spend again before the window closes.

Bakayoko has managed 20 goals in 55 appearances making him much more prolific than Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle could do with an extra option on the right wing

One cause for concern is how players coming to Newcastle from the Eridivisie often fail to live up to their goalscoring expectations – Jon Dahl Tomasson and Luuk de Jong, anyone?

I imagine that our scouts are now much better than they were back then and can spot whether a player looks like they could handle the Premier League before we make a move for them.

I think this one looks very much like it would be worth a go for £30million to add another option to the right flank. We can’t rely on Almiron and Jacob Murphy all season, as good as they were last season.
