Newcastle United still have a lot to play for this season.

Still in the FA Cup, albeit drawing Manchester City away in the next round has tempered that somewhat, Newcastle could also yet qualify for the Europa League.

However, speculation in regard to the summer transfer window has already begun.

Indeed, targets are reportedly being offered to the club already. Last week, The Chronicle reported that Sheffield United’s Vinicius Souza had been served up as a potential signing at St James’ Park.

Now, The Chronicle have offered more insight.

Newcastle transfer news: Mario Dorgeles latest

They claim Ivorian wonderkid Mario Dorgeles has now been offered to the club.

The 19-year-old midfielder is currently with Danish outfit FC Nordsjaelland and has reportedly impressed a number of Premier League scouts.

His name is said to have been put forward during Dan Ashworth’s time at Newcastle, while Arsenal and Chelsea are also thought to be keen.

PIF have previously shown a willingness to sign players of such profile. Two youngsters the club have brought to in – Garang Kuol and Yankuba Minteh – offer a precedent there and even have a connection to Dorgeles.

Kuol is believed to share an agent, while Minteh was also playing in Denmark before Newcastle signed him.

The report adds that Dorgeles is seen as a big star for the future and has already landed a boot deal with Nike despite making only 42 appearances in European football.

Mario Dorgeles: Who is midfielder and what is his style of play?

Noted as a either a defensive midfielder or a central midfielder by Transfermarkt, Dorgeles was hailed as a “strong passer” and “dynamic” by the Danish club upon his arrival, with their official website even suggesting he was “the full package.”

Gareth Henderby, Head of Academies at the club, said: “Mario has always shown great potential. He is a strong midfielder with really good passing skills. He has the level to be able to change a game.”
