Four games in and it’s clear that Newcastle need a little extra up front, so links with Josef Martinez should be welcome on Tyneside.
According to the Chronicle, the Magpies are keeping tabs on the Atlanta United forward, who is in red-hot form in the MLS. Martinez has found the net in 15 consecutive games, scoring 76 league goals since he moved to Atlanta in 2017.

The Venezuelan won the MLS Cup last year, with his partnership with Miguel Almiron a key reason behind their triumph. Miggy and Martinez had a clear chemistry on the pitch, which was broken up in January 2019 when the former moved to St James’ Park.
But while Almiron has struggled at times, Martinez has continued to find the net. So could reuniting the pair get the best out of Almiron? Or would Martinez also struggle in the Premier League?

The 26-year-old has been a goal machine in the MLS, but struggled earlier in his career. He’s played in Italy and Switzerland and been nowhere near as prolific. This might make the Magpies a little wary if they step up their pursuit.
But what do the fans make of the links with Atlanta United’s current talisman?
