Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after TEAMtalk reported that Theo Walcott’s intermediaries have spoken to the Magpies about a potential loan move.
The report states that Crystal Palace, Southampton, Fulham and West Ham are also potential destinations for the England international, who cost Everton £20 million when they signed him from Arsenal.
TEAMtalk say that Carlo Ancelotti has told Walcott he can leave Goodison Park, given the vast depth he has in the wide attacking areas right now.
The Toffees boss has Richarlison and James Rodriguez as his main options, while Moise Kean, Bernard and Alex Iwobi provide decent depth.
The 31-year-old – who earns £100k-a-week at Everton according to Spotrac – hasn’t made a Premier League appearances for the high-flying Merseysiders so far this season.
In total, he has only netted 11 goals in 84 games since his move from Arsenal.
Steve Bruce is already struggling to find a place for the in-form Miguel Almiron.
The Magpies boss handed him just one Premier League start this season before Saturday’s game against Burnley, despite the Paraguayan grabbing a goal and three assists in both the league and cup.
In that respect, it is difficult to see where Walcott would fit in – we don’t think he’s really needed at St James’ Park.
For someone who earns so much a week, he definitely wouldn’t be worth the finances involved.
