Newcastle United fans have expressed their delight on social media, following a new report that has claimed Jetro Willems will sign as a free agent.
The Dutchman’s contract with Eintracht Frankfurt expires this summer.

It looks like there will be no extension for him, with the player having not made an appearance for the Bundesliga club this season.
Willems spent most of the season recovering from the knee injury that cut short his loan spell with Newcastle last season.
He returned to the first-team picture in January, but hasn’t yet made a single appearance – merely making the bench a number of times.

For last weekend’s game with Schalke he was left out of the squad, perhaps further suggesting he’ll be off.
Bild claim the 27-year-old will leave and rejoin Newcastle for free this summer.
The fact he hasn’t played since that game against Chelsea in January 2020 makes his return a little bit of a risk.

But him donning the black and white jersey again will lift the spirits of Newcastle fans far and wide, with Willems having wowed in the few months he spent at the club in 2019/20.
