Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the news that Florian Lejeune is set to leave the club.
The Frenchman was not involved against York City, and Steve Bruce said after the game that he had been in talks with Deportivo Alaves.
Lejeune spent the 2020/21 season on loan at the Basque Country outfit.
He made 36 appearances there in what was a good season for him following his injury misery.
It seems his exit will only be a matter of time, with the Chronicle reporting it is going to be a permanent move.
It will see Lejeune return to La Liga, which he left to join the Magpies in 2017.
Lejeune’s time at St. James’ Park has really been spoiled because of injuries.
He ruptured his cruciate ligament in July 2018, and then suffered another knee injury in April 2019.
Such bad luck has limited him to just 46 appearances for the Magpies.
Lejeune is being moved on following reports Steve Bruce had concerns about how he would cope with the intensity of the Premier League.
