Newcastle United were today linked with a move for Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The Everton striker is apparently someone of interest for the new owners at St. James’ Park, according to The Telegraph.

Calvert-Lewin has featured very little so far this season.

He played the first three Premier League matches, scoring a goal in each, but has since been struggling with a toe injury.

His absence hasn’t hit Everton too hard though.

The Toffees are going well in eighth-place under Rafa Benitez.

Calvert-Lewin enjoyed his best campaign to date last season, scoring 21 goals in all competitions.

He has established himself as a very capable Premier League striker in recent times, and is also now on the scene with England.

At the moment, Newcastle have one quality striker in Callum Wilson but beyond the 29-year-old, who is injury prone, there isn’t much else.

A new forward in January should be on the agenda for the new owners, and it remains to be seen if an offer will be forthcoming for Calvert-Lewin.

It has to be said, Everton would likely be very reluctant to sell. Especially since he is under contract there until 2025, thought to be worth £100,000-a-week (Sportekz).
