Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the confirmed news that DeAndre Yedlin has joined Galatasaray.
The 27-year-old has departed St. James’ Park after a four-and-a-half-year stint at the club following a move from Tottenham Hotspur.
Yedlin clocked up 125 appearances in total for the Magpies.
The player’s future had been up in the air for some time leading up to his eventual exit, with his contract set to expire in the summer.
It appears the Turkish giants did not have to pay any compensation to Newcastle for Yedlin, with a spokesman saying (Chronicle): “An agreement was reached with the professional football player DeAndre Yedlin and his club Newcastle United Limited to transfer the player free of charge.”
Speaking about his departure, Bruce said: “We’ve have three right-backs, he’s more comfortable at wing-back and it’s no secret we’ve been trying to move to a back four.
“I’d like to wish him best of luck in Turkey, playing for a huge club. We had to let somebody out to let somebody in.”
The departure comes after it was claimed Yedlin had actually wanted to pen a new deal at St. James’, but grew tired of waiting for Newcastle to present him an offer.
On social media, some Newcastle fans have been reacting to the news of his departure and not everybody is happy to see him go:
Underrated and quality at his best. He was scapegoated, even do he was the best rb at the club. He was treated very badly.

Will be missed.
Not the best right back in the world, but he showed passion in every single game which we can only ask for.

A servant for a 100+ games, instrumental in making sure we got back to the prem, never watched a game were he didn’t give 100%, big figure in the local comminity too! This is a lack luster generic good bye @NUFC. The fans appreciate you @yedlinny, all the best going forward!

Proper gutted about this, I remember seeing him play in the 2014 World cup and thought he was really exciting.
Was buzzing when he came to the prem and then eventually signed for us. https://t.co/AnXWO2re1J
