Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark has reportedly emerged as a target for Crystal Palace.

According to The Telegraph, the Eagles are looking at a potential deal to bring the 31-year-old to Selhurst Park.

£35,000-a-week star Clark (Spotrac) has become much more involved for Newcastle of late, making six Premier League starts since mid-December.

The Republic of Ireland international has done well in the Magpies’ backline, but his future is uncertain at the moment.

Clark’s current contract is expiring at the end of the season, and that puts Newcastle in a precarious position.

Steve Bruce is said to want to keep him and it’s been reported the club are hoping he’ll sign an extension, but the player may well wish to seek pastures new.

It’s explained by The Telegraph that Mamadou Sakho could leave Palace and the club are therefore looking at potential replacements, with Clark an option.
