The club are also keen on Ethan Ampadu, again of Chelsea.

Premier League rules dictate Newcastle would only be able to sign one of them on loan, since they’re both at the same club.

Sarr joined Chelsea last year from Nice, but was loaned out to FC Porto shortly after his move.

He made 19 appearances for the first-team across all competitions, and also spent some time with their B side.

The centre-back has huge potential – in 2018, CIES Football Observatory had Sarr as the fifth most promising player under the age of 20 in world football (via huffingtonpost.fr).

Now 22, Sarr needs to be playing regularly if he is to eventually realise his potential.

On social media, some Newcastle fans have become very excited by the possibility of the club signing Sarr, who is a former teammate of Toon hero Allan Saint-Maximin.
