Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to an interesting claim from The Telegraph yesterday.

The publication stated that the Magpies had been offered a number of players in the final weeks of the transfer window.

Hamza Choudhury and Boubacar Kamara were two of those players.

The pair were the most heavily linked on transfer deadline day.

But Newcastle were also offered the chance to sign Harry Winks, Axel Tuanzebe, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Hector Bellerin and Mason Holgate.

Some of these, like Winks and Tuanzebe, were reported at the time.

But Bellerin and Holgate being offered as potential loan signings is new information.

In the end, Newcastle failed to sign any of them.

It means only Joe Willock has come in as a first-team signing.

It is hugely disappointing that Newcastle have ended up with none of these players.

Some were clearly open to moving away from their parent clubs.

Choudhury was supposedly very keen to join the Magpies. Tuanzebe ended up going to Aston Villa. Bellerin has joined Real Betis for 2021/22.

It is not stated why Newcastle didn’t bring in a single one, but there have been claims the loan fee request was one of the reasons Newcastle didn’t get Choudhury.

One would bet it was a similar story with the others – if Newcastle even got as far as the negotiating table.

On social media, some fans have expressed their dismay about the club’s inactivity, amid this claim of seven players being offered.
