Newcastle United could now sign Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the summer, having failed to land him in January.
That’s according to CBS journalist Ben Jacobs, who spoke about the 23-year-old’s future with GiveMeSport.
On deadline day, The Telegraph claimed the Magpies had made their final enquiry of the window over a move for the England international.
The Blues rejected any chance of a loan deal, viewing Eddie Howe’s side as a rival for European qualification.
Furthermore, they then priced them out of a permanent transfer, claiming it would take in excess of £50m to sign him.

However, Jacobs now believes Gallagher will be available to move in the summer if he continues to fall down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.
“Gallagher is a possibility in the summer because Chelsea may well need outgoings and they can probably pull in £40m or so for Gallagher, which is a decent piece of business,” he told GiveMeSport.
“If Chelsea are to bring in more midfielders, Gallagher might go down the pecking order.”
Newcastle could sign Gallagher in the summer
Despite Chelsea’s massive spend in January, Gallagher seems to have kept his place in Graham Potter’s XI.
He has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, including 19 matches in the Premier League.
Howe is obviously keen to add an extra midfielder to his options in the middle of the park, and he seems to have identified the 23-year-old as a brilliant individual to sign.

Gallagher is a strong runner, meaning he likes to press the opposition and put them under pressure when they’re on the ball.
This is something the Toon manager has wanted to instil in his squad at St James’ Park, meaning the midfielder could be a very good fit for what he’s looking for.
Hailed by Blues manager Graham Potter as a ‘fantastic’ player, this is certainly a transfer to keep an eye on in the summer – especially if Newcastle qualify for the Champions League.
