We saw Eddie Howe and the Dutchman go at one another at St James’ Park, while it was the Red Devils who were celebrating after the League Cup final at Wembley back in February.
The edge between Newcastle and Man United is certainly back, and will continue into next season as both teams look to build on a successful 2022/23 campaign.
Until then, both clubs are looking to enhance their squad. Man United are trying to sign a new right-back, with Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen linked.
However, Newcastle could be about to inadvertently stop the ‘very dangerous‘ 22-year-old signing for Ten Hag’s side.
AC Milan now interested in Jeremie Frimpong
According to the Daily Mail, AC Milan are considering a move to sign Frimpong.
And they are a club that has cash to splash, having just sold Sandro Tonali to Newcastle. The £55million transfer was confirmed on Monday, with the 23-year-old becoming Howe’s first senior signing of the summer.
Man United are closing in on their first addition with Mason Mount, but will hope to make further signings. Right-back is a position they want to improve in, and Frimpong has been identified as the player they want.
However, they suddenly face competition from Serie A giants AC Milan – and it is all because of Newcastle buying one of their best players.
That means Newcastle could be about to stop Man United signing Frimpong, which would make the Tonali transfer even sweeter!
