Newcastle United can sign Real Valladolid defender Ivan Fresneda for just £11m this month, according to CalcioMercato journalist Alessio Lento.

Sky Sports have claimed the 18-year-old is flattered by the Toon’s interest, and that he would be willing to make the move to St James’ Park.

Now, it appears Eddie Howe’s side can secure a great signing for a relatively cheap fee.

Taking to Twitter, Lento reports that Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund are interested in landing the teenager in January.

However, he claims advanced negotiations are yet to be entered.

It is believed Valladolid would be willing to sell for €12-13m, roughly around £11m.

Juventus are also mentioned as an outside competitor in the race to sign the Spaniard.

Newcastle can sign Fresneda for £11m

Valladolid manager Pacheta has already appeared to have admitted that Fresneda’s time at the club is limited, meaning he is expecting him to leave this month.

It has been reported that Eddie Howe has been looking to bring in a young understudy for Kieran Trippier since the summer.

At 18-years-old, it seems the Toon boss may have identified the perfect addition. Fresneda has established himself in Valladolid’s starting XI this season, having made seven appearances in La Liga and a further two in the Copa del Rey.

The youngster has been lauded for a number of his displays this term, but one in particular stood out. Lining up against Real Madrid, the right-back had to mark winger Vinicius Junior. Having excelled, he was hailed by talent scout Jacek Kulig for his ‘superb’ performance.

Available for just £11m, this appears to be a bargain for the Magpies. Alike Garang Kuol, Fresneda has years left to improve and perform at the highest level.

Therefore, Howe should do all he can to secure the Spaniard’s signature.
