According to talkSPORT, Newcastle United are one of three clubs interested in signing Macauley Bonne from Charlton Athletic.
Leicester City and Fulham are also reportedly keen, with Bonne scoring six times in the Championship so far this season.
This is his first season in the second tier of English football, having joined from Leyton Orient in the summer. Bonne was prolific for the O’s, scoring 23 times in the National League last season. The season prior he scored 22, ending his time there with an average of a goal every other game.
Bonne signed a three-year deal with Charlton this summer, and he’s been unfazed by the step up in quality, working under former Newcastle midfielder Lee Bowyer.
With Leicester reportedly interested too, Newcastle face some stiff competition. But according to talkSPORT, the Magpies actually lead the race because they are more likely to offer the 24-year-old first-team football.
