After getting Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes, Newcastle United are looking to make Tino Livramento their third signing of the summer.
The Southampton right-back continues to be linked with a move to Tyneside, and speculation intensified late last week. It was claimed that a £30million deal was close, suggesting that a breakthrough had been made.
However, that does not appear to be the case. The Magpies’ most recent bid was reportedly rejected, while Livramento was involved in Southampton’s friendly against Reading at the weekend.
That was a clear suggestion that a deal is not as close as first thought, and now a new claim from the Northern Echo hints that Newcastle are starting to become annoyed with the way negotiations are going.
Newcastle frustrated over Tino Livramento approach
According to the Northern Echo, there is now ‘mounting frustration’ over the way Southampton are acting during the Livramento negotiations. The report states that the Championship club keep ‘moving the financial goalposts’.

As always, money is the issue – even more so in this deal which is more complicated than usual. That is because of a huge sell-on clause that Chelsea have after they sold Livramento to Southampton two years ago.
They will receive a decent portion of whatever fee Southampton get, which is why the Saints are looking to recoup as much money as possible.
That is understandable, but it has led to a frustrating situation for Newcastle who are keen to bring Livramento to St James’ Park.
Whether or not Eddie Howe gets his man remains to be seen, but it is proving to be another drawn out transfer saga for Toon fans. But the Barnes scenario had a happy ending, so let’s hope we can soon say the same about Livramento.

He is an exciting talent who can provide the foundation for our future, but he is certainly not going to be cheap.
Newcastle are becoming frustrated, but must believe that Livramento is a worthwhile investment – otherwise they would have walked away a long time ago.
