Newcastle United are looking to cast their net wider when it comes to signing players.
While Eddie Howe has defended his signings as Newcastle United manager, there is a plan in place to change the way that the Magpies approach transfers.
Paul Mitchell is overseeing this change, as Newcastle prepare to look further afield for potential new signings.
That is what they did when they brought Yankuba Minteh to the club, with Dan Ashworth signing the winger from Danish club Odense BK. That proved to be a pivotal deal, as selling Minteh this summer helped the Magpies comply with PSR.
Now Newcastle are looking at players in Denmark once again, as they eye an attacker who has been dubbed the next Erling Haaland.

Newcastle United linked with Sindre Walle Egeli
According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United have got Sindre Walle Egeli on their radar.
Egeli is an 18-year-old attacker from Norway, and he recently made his debut for the Norwegian national team.
The teenager currently plays for Nordsjælland in Denmark, and has scored three goals and provided one assist in eight appearances this season.
He is left-footed, and primarily plays on the right wing. However, he is capable of playing anywhere across the forward line. That will make him appealing to Eddie Howe, as he admires versatility. Meanwhile, Newcastle’s transfer priority in January is to sign a winger.
Egeli could be a good option for Newcastle, but he will not be cheap despite his inexperience. The Daily Mail add that Nordsjælland want £21million for Egeli, who has been compared to fellow Norwegian Erling Haaland due to his goalscoring prowess.
Newcastle target has compared himself to Arjen Robben
While some have compared Egeli to Haaland, the man himself can see the similarities to former Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Chelsea winger Arjen Robben.
The Dutchman was one of the best wingers of his generation, and his party trick was coming inside off the right flank and scoring from range with his left foot. Every time he cut inside, a goal felt inevitable. It was a bit like Harvey Barnes but on the opposite flank.
In an interview with Eurosport, Egeli admitted that he understands the comparisons to Robben.
“I would say that my left foot is clearly my greatest skill,” he said.
“You can say that I’m a bit like Arjen Robben, since I’m on the right and like to cut in. But I’m probably not quite the same (as him).”
Meanwhile, his international manager Ståle Solbakken has described Elegi as a ‘notorious goalscorer’ with an ‘exceptional’ left foot.
He is certainly a major talent, and a player that Newcastle United are monitoring. It would be great to bring him to Tyneside, but there will likely be a lot of competition given the undoubted potential he clearly boasts.
