Newcastle United are now among the clubs reportedly considering a move for AC Milan midfielder Charles De Ketelaere.

The Belgian is currently on loan at Atalanta, having flopped at Milan last season following his £29m move from Club Brugge.

The 22-year-old failed to score a single goal in his year at the San Siro, and provided just one assist in 32 Serie A matches.

However, he has started the season superbly with Atalanta, notching up three goal contributions in five games, and a number of top sides are now monitoring him.

A report from CalcioMercato has now claimed that Newcastle are considering a move for De Ketelaere, alongside Arsenal and Manchester United.

Milan have a 10% sell-on clause should Atalanta activate their option to buy for him before selling him on, and it could take a significant fee to land the Belgium international.

Would this be a good move?

It is probably too early to determine whether De Ketelaere is truly back to his best form after a nightmare year at Milan, but the initial signs at Atalanta are promising.

He was a huge talent at Club Brugge, and if he is able to fulfil his vast potential, he could be an excellent addition for Newcastle.

An attacking midfielder who can also play on the wings, De Ketelaere could add end-product and creativity if he is at his best, having notched up 23 goals and assists in 39 games in his final season in Brugge.

He could add a different option to the Newcastle midfield, whilst also providing an alternative on the right wing. Although a move in January looks highly unlikely, he is a player Newcastle may keep an eye on at Atalanta if he continues his strong start to the season.

Eddie Howe could do with another attacking midfield option, with the side lacking in creativity this season, and perhaps this could end up being an under-the-radar bargain buy if he joins and makes a big impact.
