Newcastle United’s summer preparations are well underway as they target another young midfielder who could be on the move.
RB Salzburg are known for producing some top young talent and the latest who has been rumoured to be making the move to the Premier League is 19-year-old Oscar Gloukh.
Journalist Ekrem Konur has claimed that the midfielder is now being watched by several European clubs, including Newcastle, who want to bring him in.
Newcastle face tough battle for title-winning midfielder
Newcastle are expecting to have a much bugger budget for the summer than they did in January, though having spent next to nothing in the winter window that will hardly come as a surprise.
Gloukh is one of the names who has been mentioned as a possible target with Newcastle prioritising a lot of young players lately who could ideally grow with the club under the guidance of Eddie Howe.
The teenager has played 18 times in the league this season with eight goal contributions while he has also appeared in all six of the Austrian club’s Champions League campaign in which he netted twice and assisted one.
His great form has attracted interest from several clubs around Europe and it’s believed that Newcastle, Man United, Arsenal, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Barcelona are big fans of the attacking midfielder.

Newcastle need to identify their priority targets
It’s not yet clear just how much Newcastle will have to spend in the summer, but it certainly won’t be an outrageous amount given how much they have been restricted by financial rules in the past.
That means that Newcastle, as ever, will have to be very careful about where they spend their money, especially after last summer’s debacle with Sandro Tonali who won’t be available again until August.
The Magpies have lacked a bit of creativity and goal threat from the midfield, which Gloukh could certainly provide, but it would mean that someone is likely to be moved on to accommodate for the new signing.
It’s also not clear how much Gloukh would actually cost them, but Newcastle would be hoping to get a bargain deal for the midfielder to allow them to invest into other areas of the squad.
