Newcastle are actually finding it hard to sell two of their players this summer

It’s going to be fascinating to see who actually leaves Newcastle United this summer.

Now that it looks as if Bruno Guimaraes and Alexander Isak will both be staying at St James’ Park, the situation may be less pressing for supporters.

In an ideal world, Newcastle wouldn’t be losing any of their key players.

However, they may need to sell before they can buy in order to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules (PSR).

With that in mind, it seems some big names will have to go.

Yankuba Minteh is seemingly set to depart reasonably imminently, while Martin Dubravka continues to be tipped for an exit.

Selling players on Premier League contracts is not always easy, however.

Newcastle have only really sold Allan Saint-Maximin and Chris Wood for any kind of significant money since the takeover, after all.

In fact, two players are actually proving quite hard to sell, it seems.

The two players Newcastle are struggling to sell right now

According to the Daily Mirror, Newcastle are finding it hard to offload Callum Wilson and Miguel Almiron.

Wilson is thought to have interest from West Ham and Almiron in Saudi Arabia but actually getting them to leave is seemingly proving quite difficult.

Newcastle’s problem in selling players is nothing new

The difficulty Newcastle are encountering here is nothing new.

Even during Dan Ashworth’s brief tenure at the club as a sporting director, there was a frustration that the club could not raise more money by way of player sales.

Quite how they get around the issue is unclear. Wilson and Almiron are both reasonably highly paid and do not exactly look like  long-term signings for potential suitors given their respective ages.

Hopefully, later in the window, more avenues for a potential exit emerge for the pair of them.
