Leandro Trossard blew Clinton Morrison away as the reported Newcastle United transfer target scored for Brighton to beat Tottenham, speaking on Sky Sports News (16/4, 14:22).
The Seagulls snatched three points at the death in north London on Saturday afternoon as Trossard struck ahead of stoppage-time. Brighton kept their hosts at bay throughout their visit, and punished Antonio Conte’s side after mistakes from Cristian Romero and Eric Dier.
Brighton sought to create a late chance to break the deadlock with Danny Welbeck linking with Trossard on the left-wing. Romero had a chance to snip the ball from Welbeck’s heels but could only kick it into the ex-England star and again failed to challenge Adam Lallana.

Romero’s stumbling challenge on Lallana let the ball fall invitingly inside the Spurs box for Trossard to run at Dier. But one swift fake shot from the £15m forward confused Dier and left Trossard with a clear sight of Hugo Lloris’ net, and perfectly picked out the far corner.
Trossard’s goal settled the clash as Brighton won in north London in back-to-back matches after beating Arsenal before facing Tottenham. The 27-year-old is also now on a personal-best season of six goals in 30 Premier League games, having netted at the Gunners as well.
The 15-cap international had scored five in each of his prior two English top-flight seasons since moving to the Amex. He also offered three assists in 2019/20 and five last term, but has only offered one – against relegation-threatened Norwich in November – this season.
Newcastle target Brighton’s Trossard ‘magnificent’ at Tottenham, says Morrison
Trossard blew Morrison away with his 90th-minute winner for Brighton at Tottenham amid claims by the Daily Mail that Newcastle have added the Belgian to the club’s shortlist for a summer transfer amid fears Allan Saint-Maximin could be leaving St James’ Park this year.
“It’s a good finish from Trossard, it’s brilliant,” Morrison said. “It’s a good run in behind from Welbeck, it looked like he might have been [offside]. They were looking to see if he was offside. He was onside, it falls to Trossard. Eric Dier’s got to do better.

“Trossard fakes to have a shot, chops inside Eric Dier and the finish with the outside of the right foot into the bottom corner past Lloris is magnificent. It’s a brilliant goal.”
The Daily Mail add Trossard is looking to leave Brighton this summer as Newcastle chiefs eye a potential transfer. Toon scouts are also watching his efforts closely, so may give boss Eddie Howe a glowing report of his latest match-winning performance in north London.
