It is imperative that Newcastle United keep Lewis Hall away from Manchester United this summer.
While their stance has already been made clear by Eddie Howe, by the player’s contract, and by the way the club have reportedly reacted to suggestions he could leave this summer, no one should lose sight about his importance to the cause.
Hard choice – but who are you selling if you were in charge? 🤔
Feel free to include anyone not pictured!
Any suggestion of a sale this summer should be treated with real caution. Links with Manchester United may have emerged, but Hall is perhaps the last player Newcastle should cash in on.
The 21-year-old is under contract until 2029 and, this season above any else, Hall has established himself as one of the best left-backs in the world.
Newcastle deem Hall rumours as speculative
According to The Chronicle, insiders on Tyneside have brushed off any suggestions he could leave for Old Trafford as “speculative”.
Howe has already explained why Newcastle signed Hall and Tino Livramento. They were brought in to grow into the full-back roles and become major parts of the team for years.
What do YOU make of Newcastle’s decision to keep Eddie Howe? 🤔
That is the key point here. The very best of Hall in a Newcastle United shirt is yet to come.
Certainly, he is exactly the profile Newcastle should want to keep.
There is already enough uncertainty elsewhere in the squad. Livramento’s contract situation is one to watch, Sandro Tonali has openly admitted footballers must think year by year, and Anthony Gordon has been heavily linked with Bayern Munich.
None of those situations are the same as Hall’s. There is no need to sell, particularly if money is generated by cashing in on any of the above.

Interesting response from Newcastle United
Based off that information, they do not rule out the prospect entirely.
Yet, selling him now would raise far more questions than it would answer, especially when Howe has publicly backed him as part of the club’s next phase.
Of course, PSR will always create difficult conversations. Newcastle have already learned that every player has a price in the modern market.
Still, Hall should be very near the bottom of that list.
Newcastle need to build around players who are young, committed and improving. Hall ticks every box, and selling him would only make their long-term plan look confused.
