Newcastle United want to sign Scott McTominay from Manchester United this summer, and Jermaine Pennant believes that the Magpies are one of the midfielder’s best options.
McTominay was a target for Newcastle during the January transfer window, but Man United rejected Eddie Howe’s advances.
The Toon boss is set to reignite his interest in the 26-year-old and make a bid for the Scotland international, who is seen as someone who can add something different to the Magpies’ squad.
The jury is still out on McTominay to Newcastle, although pundit Danny Murphy has claimed that he would be a perfect addition at St James’ Park.
Pennant appears to agree, and thinks a Toon transfer could be for the best. However, he has also suggested an alternative destination.

Newcastle or West Ham for Scott McTominay
Speaking on TalkSPORT on Tuesday night, former Liverpool winger Pennant suggested McTominay should either join Newcastle or West Ham.
“I would say go for a Newcastle, maybe West Ham,” he said.
“If Declan Rice leaves in the summer, I think that will be a great purchase, a great addition for West Ham. They’re similar kind of players.”
Man United might prefer to sell to West Ham
Pennant’s comments come during a rich vein of form for McTominay. He scored twice against Cyprus on Saturday night, and followed it up with another brace on Tuesday. The midfielder scored both of Scotland’s goals as they beat Spain on a historic night for the Tartan Army.
Four goals in two games might boost Newcastle fans’ desire to see McTominay in black and white, but Manchester United might feel differently.
They have been unwilling to deal with the Magpies in the past, refusing to let Jesse Lingard move to St James’ Park just over a year ago.
The Red Devils might take a similar stance on McTominay, especially if West Ham do make a move. They are not direct rivals to Man United like we are, meaning they would probably rather he moved to the London Stadium.
He has been linked with the Hammers, but it sounds like Newcastle are the club that is most desperate to sign him.
