Leeds United’s Tyler Adams has now informed the club that he wants to leave in order to continue to play in the Premier League with Newcastle United interested in his services.

It appears that Newcastle are determined to unearth some bargains this summer in order to appease the Financial Fair Play overlords, which is why they’re looking at the clubs who were relegated from the Premier League to find players who should still be in the top flight.

One such player Newcastle have in their sights is the 36-times capped USA international Tyler Adams who arrived at Elland Road last summer from RB Leipzig for £20million.

Adams is a defensive midfielder but can play on the right of defence or midfield

According to Team Talk, Adams has told the Leeds hierarchy that he wants to leave in order to continue to play Premier League football next season.

That news will have alerted Newcastle along with Liverpool and Manchester United who all rate the 24-year-old who can play as a full-back or wide-man as well as defensive midfield which is where he played mostly for Leeds.

The versatile midfielder missed an important chunk of football last season after undergoing hamstring in surgery in March. Many Leeds fans believe they’d have avoided the drop had Adams been fit for the run in, and it’s a strong argument.

Newcastle need a CDM and Adams could potentially be a bargain

Leeds looked a more capable side with Adams in it and their form dropped massively when he was unavailable for selection.

It’s not been mentioned how much Leeds would want for Adams, but you’d imagine they’d want to at least get back the £20million they paid for him last season.

Given Newcastle’s need for a defensive midfielder, Adams is a perfect fit. He’s got bags of experience at the top level playing for RB Leipzig and Leeds as well as captaining the USMNT. And at around £20million he’d be a steal.
