Late last month, Newcastle United were linked with a move for Eden Hazard.
The Belgian was the latest in a long list of elite ‘targets’ for Newcastle, whose world was turned upside down when the Saudi-backed takeover went through on October 7th.
According to ESPN, Real Madrid have sounded out Premier League clubs about the possibility of signing Hazard, one of which is allegedly Newcastle United.

I’m sure the new Toon owners would leave to see Hazard arrive at St James’ Park. During his time at Chelsea he was one of the best players in the planet.
Graeme Jones said as much back in 2018 when he was part of Belgium’s backroom staff. The current Newcastle coach compared Hazard to Lionel Messi for his ability to win games on his own.
But could he start doing that in a black and white shirt soon? Absolutely not.
Newcastle rumours laughable for Eden Hazard
According to Miguel Delaney’s weekly newsletter, Hazard started to laugh when he heard rumours of a possible move to Newcastle United.

Unsurprisingly, the 30-year-old reportedly won’t consider a move to St James’ Park.
And can you blame him?! Why would he want to come to Newcastle?
The club aren’t in the Champions League. They’re not even in the Europa League or the Europa Conference. They aren’t even close to competing in Europe.
Right now, Newcastle’s main focus is not being relegated to the Championship. So of course Hazard is going to laugh when his name is uttered in the same sentence as ‘Newcastle United’.

Although in Newcastle’s defence, they were reportedly offered Hazard by Real Madrid, not the other way round. If what ESPN said is true, then Los Blancos are basically trying to take advantage of Newcastle’s new wealth and pawn off one of their biggest earners to them.
Hazard might find the whole thing amusing, but I’m sure most Toon fans feel the same. Not because he isn’t immensely talented, but because the only hazard at St James’ Park right now is the fool who tries to drive past the ground on matchday.
