We’re yet to have the photo of Harvey Barnes in a Newcastle United kit or holding a scarf on the pitch, but we now have the next best thing – a “Here we go” from Fabrizio Romano.
Last night it was reported that Newcastle and Leicester had come to an agreement on the terms of a deal to take Harvey Barnes from the King Power Stadium to St James’ Park.
While outlets disagree on the actual figure it’s believed to be somewhere between £38million-£40million with add-ons, which for a player with Barnes’ output is not a bad deal.
Harvey Barnes to Newcastle is practically a done deal
There’s still the red tape and medical to overcome but confidence is high that the deal will go through, so much so that Fabrizio Romano has given the deal his trademark three word blessing – “Here we go”.
Tweeting this morning: “Newcastle are set to sign Harvey Barnes on permanent deal from Leicester, here we go! #NUFC Deal sealed on £38/39m package and personal terms are also agreed now. Barnes wants Newcastle and deal will be completed soon. Saint-Maximin, now closer to Al Ahli move.”

Romano’s “Here we go” battle cry is usually the final sign that the deal is done before the player is pictured in the shirt – a real photo of him in the shirt, not the photoshopped ones that do the rounds just to avoid any sarcastic comments about the tweet showing Barnes in a Newcastle shirt.
Barnes has been reportedly spotted on Tyneside already
Given how quickly this one has moved in the last 24 hours it does feel like everything was already in place but Newcastle just needed to be sure they could move on Allan Saint-Maximin before signing on the dotted line.

Once Maxi’s proposed move to Al Ahli gathered pace so too did the Harvey Barnes deal, that can’t be a coincidence.
There have been reports today that suggest that Barnes and his representatives were on Tyneside last night, which would make sense. I imagine Newcastle want to get everything done and dusted ASAP so that Barnes can be involved as much as possible in the PL Summer Series which kicks off for Newcastle on Sunday.
