Newcastle United have to be in the conversation to sign £100m striker Victor Osimhen according to Napoli’s former Sporting Director, Carlo Jacomuzzi.
It’s like something out of Football Manager, Newcastle signing Victor Osimhen from Napoli for £100million, but Jacomuzzi thinks it could be closer to reality than we think.
Speaking to 1 Radio Station (via Calcio Napoli 1926): “Osimhen in the Premier League? It all depends on the request from the blue club. It’s an entirely economic problem, since I believe there are clubs ready to buy him. There are many clubs capable of shelling out large sums, as well City and United also pay attention to Newcastle in this sense.
“We’re talking about a player with undisputed qualities who I consider ready to make the leap into the English league. Attacking depth systematically is a characteristic that properly pertains to English football. Among all clubs, it’s Newcastle who are one of those who make use of this principle of play.”
Osimhen dreams of playing in England
The 24-year-old is being courted by several clubs with England a preferred destination for Osimhen after he admitted recently that he dreams of playing in the Premier League.
Manchester United and free-spending Chelsea are poised at the front of the queue for the Napoli striker who has 21 goals already this season.
Both clubs are certainly in need of a goal scorer of Osimhen’s quality, as are Newcastle, but my thinking is still that this one is too much too soon for the Eddie Howe.

This is one of those links that is borne out of Newcastle’s backers being the richest in world football and nothing really along the lines of reality. It’s a fact that we could technically afford a £100million bid for a player, the likelihood that we would so soon into the PIF project is miniscule.
FFP makes this one a non-starter
Newcastle simply do not generate revenue at the level we’d need to in order to make a transfer like this work in terms of FFP (Financial Fair Play) at this point in time. I’ve got zero doubt that we will get there, but we aren’t there yet which casts serious doubt over our links to Osimhen.
I’d love nothing more than to be wrong about this as Osimhen as all the qualities to tear the Premier League apart.
