Jarrod Bowen might just end up at Newcastle after all.

It seemed like we’d moved on from the Hull City talisman, with talk of a move for Ademola Lookman instead.

However, the Telegraph have reported that the Magpies are set to make an offer for the 23-year-old. The article states that Steve Bruce has received the backing of Mike Ashley, with Newcastle preparing to make a ‘firm bid’.

There is no mention of how much Newcastle will offer, but his reported price tag is £22 million. That would make him the second most expensive player in our history, just ahead of Miguel Almiron.

But as it’s Newcastle we’re talking about, you can bank on us making a low offer to kick off negotiations.

We’ve been linked with a plethora of players this month, but all roads seem to lead back to Bowen. He’s the one the fans want, and one that the club really needs.

Bowen has enjoyed a sensational Championship campaign so far, scoring 16 times and providing six assists. He would arrive full of confidence, ready to hit the ground running.

But it’s only rumour at the minute. We can’t get too excited until we see him holding up a black and white shirt in front of an empty St James’ Park.

In the meantime, some fans are desperate for Luke Edwards’ transfer update to be true.
