Fabrizio Romano has released his catchphrase tweet that suggests Newcastle United are close to their fourth major signing of the summer.

Chelsea and Newcastle have agreed a deal for 18-year-old left-back Lewis Hall who Pat Nevin once called a ‘very special talent‘.

Keith Downie reported for Sky Sports this morning that the deal was close for a loan move with an obligation to buy for £28million next year, and now Fabrizio Romano has backed this up with an update on the total cost.

Hall had just signed a new six-year deal at Chelsea

Romano posted his usual “Here we go” to X this morning saying: “Lewis Hall to Newcastle, here we go! Loan deal with mandatory buy option clause — medical booked later today #NUFC Total package worth £35m add-ons included. “This is gonna be our final signing”, Howe announced.

“Hall leaves after signing new deal at #CFC few days ago.”

Newcastle United fan Lewis Hall will now, all being well with his medical, join the Eddie Howe revolution at his beloved club and help guide the Magpies through a tough campaign ahead.

There are clearly a lot of add-ons and clauses in this deal to get it to work which is likely the disparity between Downie’s reported £28million and Romano’s £35million, but whatever the figure, Newcastle have picked up an extremely exciting young talent from a Premier League rival.

The biggest surprise for me on this one is that not only have Chelsea actually sold us a player after refusing to do business with us since the takeover went through, but they’ve agreed to a deal that actually helps Newcastle with regards to FFP.

The Lewis Hall deal is exactly what Howe meant by being ‘creative’

That’s probably a result of their own FFP issues with the club being found to have been in breach of FFP rules under the previous owner which could end up having significant ramifications going forward.

The structure of the deal is precisely what Eddie Howe meant last week when he said about needing to be ‘creative‘ in the market to get another player in.

I can’t wait to see Lewis Hall in black and white and showing us fans why Newcastle were willing to spend so much on such a young player.
