Journalist Fabrizio Romano has now offered an injury update on one player Newcastle United thought they had missed out on before he failed his medical.

Antonio Nusa looked all set to join Brentford on deadline day in a deal worth around £25m but the club pulled out at the last minute after Nusa failed his medical.

However, Romano is now claiming that there are ‘no issues’ regarding an injury with the winger who has just had a scan with the Norwegian medical team.

Romano gives Newcastle target the all clear after injury scare

There was a fear that Nusa would have some longstanding injury that cast a doubt over his future in football, which would explain why Brentford were so quick to pull out of the deal.

The 18-year-old has been tipped to be a very special player in years to come having impressed over in Belgium with Club Brugge where has five goal contributions in 16 league appearances.

Last year, the teenager made his debut for the Norwegian national team as well as in the Champions League attracting a number of teams with technical skills and ability to breeze past defenders with ease.

Newcastle had thought they had missed out on the talented winger for good, but Romano has now given them some hope with this injury update which will give everyone some added motivation to try and sign him.

Newcastle don’t exactly need another left-winger

Yes, Nusa is extremely talented and there’s a very good chance he’s going to have a bright future at a big club in Europe, it just doesn’t feel like it’s the perfect move for Newcastle at the minute.

The Magpies already have Anthony Gordon and Harvey Barnes in that position who they have spent a combined £84m on, and that’s without Joelinton who can also play on the left side of the attack.

Nusa would no doubt be a quality addition, but for the price he’s going to cost Newcastle need to address so many other positions first which are much bigger weaknesses in the team.

The one positive for Nusa is that he is versatile and can actually play in either flank, so could eventually replace Miguel Almiron, he just hasn’t really played their all season which would be a worry for Eddie Howe.
