Newcastle United are one of the clubs that are in the race to sign Tosin Adarabioyo this summer, with reports suggesting that a deal is suddenly likely.
The 26-year-old centre-back is set to become a free agent this summer, despite Fulham’s attempts to tie him down to a new contract.
Tosin Adarabioyo will be leaving Craven Cottage, and has clubs queuing up to sign him. One of those clubs is Newcastle United, and it was reported on Wednesday that the Magpies are suddenly at the front of the queue.
What has been reported about Newcastle United and Tosin Adarabioyo
It was reported by the Northern Echo that a move to St James’ Park was suddenly likely, with Newcastle offering Tosin more than £100,000-a-week to play for the Magpies.
That was met with great excitement from Toon fans, as Tosin is an impressive player who seems to have all the tools to succeed on Tyneside. He has done very well for Fulham over the years, while he is also a player who Pep Guardiola highly rates.
The former Manchester City player would be a good addition to Eddie Howe’s squad, and Newcastle are certainly keen on making that dream become a reality. However, a deal is not imminent.

What Tosin’s representatives have said about him moving to Newcastle this summer
That is according to TBR Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has spoke to Geordie Boot Boys about Newcastle United’s interest in Tosin.
“My understanding is that Newcastle are one of the clubs that are in for him,” he said.
“My sources at Newcastle are playing that down a little bit [that they are now likely to sign him]. They are not saying they won’t sign him, but to suggest it’s imminent and Newcastle are in pole position – no, it’s been slightly played down. But that’s not to say they are not interested, because they are.
“His people are trying to suggest he has not made his decision yet, that’s for sure.
“They [Newcastle] like Tosin, but are they about to unveil him at St James’ Park? I don’t think so.”
Deal makes ‘sense’ for Newcastle United
While a deal is not quite on the horizon just yet, Newcastle are certainly in the hunt to sign Tosin on a free. And he is not the only soon-to-be free agent that the Magpies have got their eyes on.
The other is Lloyd Kelly, who is due to leave Bournemouth at the end of the season. Geordie Boot Boys were recently told that Newcastle are the favourites to sign the 26-year-old, who has worked with Eddie Howe before.
Their relationship, combined with the fact that he is versatile and available on a free, makes Kelly a very appealing player.
And Bailey believes that Newcastle could be able to splash the cash elsewhere this summer if they are able to complete a double free transfer swoop for Kelly and Tosin.
“This free agency route is something that Newcastle are looking at,” he said.
“There is Lloyd Kelly too, who they really like. If they end up with Lloyd Kelly and Tosin, it would not be a huge surprise.
“If they can sign two very good Premier League players on free transfers then they can pile all of their resources into a new right winger or elsewhere. That makes a lot of sense.”
