Napoli’s Georgian sensation Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been linked with Newcastle as well as many top European clubs but it looks like they will all have to move on to other targets.

Serie A winners, Napoli face a fight to keep their top talent this summer with Victor Osimhen, Kim Min-Jae and Khvica Kvaratskhelia all linked with big money moves away. All of which have been linked to Newcastle at some point.

However it looks like any interested parties, including Newcastle will be facing an uphill battle to land Kvaratskhelia as he has hinted that his future lies with Napoli.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Napoli are in talks over a new deal

Transfer insider, Fabrizio Romano tweeted a quote from Kvara to DAZN which suggested he will remain at Napoli, while Romano then went on to explain that discussions between him and Napoli are well underway.

Kvara told DAZN: “If Napoli fans can be optimistic? Of course they can be confident. I love Napoli.” With Romano adding: “Kvara’s camp, in talks with Napoli over contract extension with salary improved — negotiations will take place soon”

Holding a price tag of around £100million, it would take a big gesture from any club to try and test Napoli’s resolve in the first place, but now it seems like the man dubbed the ‘most exciting player in Europe‘ has no interest in a move.

Newcastle will now get more time to assess Kvaratskhelia

That will be another player crossed off Eddie Howe‘s shopping list, although I question whether a move for Kvaratskhelia was genuinely on the cards for Newcastle this summer.

As much as PIF would like to make a statement signing, £100million for a 22-year-old with no Premier League experience might be too high of a risk for them so early in the project.

I’d say it actually suits Newcastle that Kavaratskhelia wants to stay at Napoli. Next season we may be in a better position to make our move for him, or on the flip side he may not repeat his amazing exploits of this season.
