A report has come out today suggesting that Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is pushing to sell Allan Saint-Maximin.
As far as outgoings from Newcastle go this summer there aren’t many candidates to leave the club who could generate much income.
The only player who really fits the bill is Allan Saint-Maximin. After a difficult season, Saint-Maximin seems to be the media’s choice for the first-team player most likely to be sacrificed in order to raise money this summer.
Allan Saint-Maximin ‘has been deemed surplus to requirements’
Now Football Transfers has claimed that Eddie Howe is looking to sell the 26-year-old as he feels there’s more that he can do with the money, saying that Saint-Maximin has been deemed surplus to requirements.
While there are many reports trying to signal the end of Allan Saint-Maximin’s tenure at Newcastle, there are just as many that claim Eddie Howe expects Saint-Maximin to be an important figure at the club next season.

A report in The Telegraph has suggested that Maxi’s future is more dependent on his own attitude rather than a decision from Eddie Howe saying “It depends on the player’s state of mind to a large extent. If he is clear he wants to commit to another season on Tyneside, any thought of selling him will be ditched.”
Newcastle will keep hold of Allan Saint-Maximin this summer
I’ve often said that if we need to raise money then Allan Saint-Maximin should be the player to make way, based on the fact that his form since Eddie Howe came in has been spotty at best, he doesn’t seem to buy into Howe’s style but he still has enough of a name in the game that we could get some decent money for him.

That doesn’t mean, however, that I actually want him to go. As much as we can’t afford to be sentimental when it comes to players, I do feel that Saint-Maximin can still offer us something that many other clubs in the Premier League don’t have, as long as he buys into what Eddie Howe is selling – which by all accounts does seem to be happening.
I don’t see Saint-Maximin going anywhere this summer, but how he does between August and January will have a huge bearing on his future, I feel.
