Despite no solid rumours, Newcastle United fans are dreaming of signing Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Napoli once again.
The winger was first linked with the Magpies late last year, which led to immense excitement from supporters. The Georgia international was enjoying a breakthrough season with Napoli, proving himself to be one of the best forwards on the planet.
Talk of a move to Newcastle died down towards the end of the season – until now. A rumour about the Magpies making an £82million bid for Kvaratskhelia went viral at the weekend, despite their being no credibility behind it.
But media outlets latched on to it, whipping fans into a frenzy.
There has been some frustration in the transfer market for Newcastle fans so far, but a move for the 22-year-old would change everything.

However, it is not even at the proper rumour stage right now, and pundit Don Hutchison has admitted that he can’t see Kvaratskhelia signing for Newcastle.
Hutchison does not think Kvaratskhelia will sign for Newcastle
Hutchison has been speaking on ESPN’s official YouTube channel, and was asked about Kvaratskhelia heading to Tyneside.
“He is a great player,” he said.
“I think the [Napoli] owners put a price tag on Osimhen where I think he’s priced at €180million or €190million just to make sure that no one buys him.
“I think Kvaratskhelia stays another season. Why would you want to move on? Being a Serie A champion – go and win it again.”
Rubbish rumour
The rumour appeared to originate from an unreliable source in Saudi Arabia, and was then picked up by the Italian media. That led to some supporters believing it had credibility, and thus a sense of excitement emerged.
In truth, it should have just been ignored. Even the ESPN video above only exists because of this dubious story. They don’t even question the validity of it, which is strange.
But Hutchison is seemingly realistic, and does not expect Kvaratskhelia to join Newcastle. In fact, he does not expect him to go anywhere. Instead, he wants him to stay with Napoli and challenge for another Serie A title.

That is probably what will happen, as an imminent move to Newcastle is not on the horizon.
Sure, he is a world class talent who the Magpies have been genuinely linked with before, and he is exactly what we are looking for. But the finances involved would be crazy, at a time when we might have to sell to buy due to FFP concerns.
